Obituary: Robert Vance Larsen, Jr.

Robert Vance Larsen, Jr. 8/23/51 ~ 10/31/07 Robert (Bob) Vance Larsen, Jr. passed away unexpectedly October 31, 2007. Dad will be remembered for the unconditional love and kindness he showed to his children and grandchildren. They always held a special place in his heart. Dad was born in Provo, Utah and raised in Salt Lake City and Golden, CO. He graduated from Wheat-ridge High School and served as a missionary for the LDS Church in the Northern California Mission. He also served in the Air National Guard and later attended BYU as a horticulture major. He married Laurie Farnworth in 1974; they were later divorced. The best parts of their 32 years of marriage were three wonderful children, their spouses, and six grandchildren. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and served in many callings including executive secretary, teacher, and the scouting program. Dad will always be remembered as a master chef, especially with a Dutch oven. He was an avid camper, hunter and fisherman. Dad was passionate about the weather and loved aviation. He enjoyed working in his yard which was always the best looking in the neighborhood. He had a beautiful tenor voice and enjoyed sharing his talent.

Dad is survived by his parents, Bob and Chris Larsen; his children: Robert Andrew (Melissa) Larsen, Heather (Jared) Ripplinger and Gregory Larsen; six beautiful grandchildren: Andy, Emily, Josh, Samantha, Michael and Rachel; siblings: Darlene (Gustav) Mahler, Rulon Larsen, Steven (Debbie) Larsen, Karen (Randy) Harris, Lee (Arlynne) Larsen and David (Tish) Larsen. Funeral services will be held Mon. November 5, 2007, 12 noon at the LDS Chapel, 7570 South 2700 West where a viewing will be held Mon. 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
