Obituary: Helen Marceli

Helen Marceli 1916 ~ 2007 Helen Mary Yost Marceli died Tuesday, October 30, 2007.She was born to Leopold A. Yost and Adele Josephine Pudil Yost on August 2, 1916 at the Presidio, San Francisco, California. She married Walter Marceli in the Fort Douglas Chapel on August 1, 1936. They were married for 64 years. Walter preceded her in death in 2000 as did her sister, Adele High. Helen was a member of the Daughter of the Nile for over 50 years and was Assistant Directress of the Lybia Nile Dancers. Adele was the Directress of the Dancers and when she died, Helen took over the unit. Helen loved to dance and loved tennis. She loved bowling and the Jazz. Helen met her husband, Walter, on the tennis court. She married him and never looked back.

Helen was a member of Radiant Chapter and of Bethsaida Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine for over 30 years where she also taught dancing. Helen traveled around the world. She loved the Mediterranean ports, especially Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Spain, France and all the Carribean islands. Helen is survived by Margaret Jost, widow of her cousin Dean Jost and their children, Diane Beverly, Ronald D. Jost, Pam Jost and Laurie Ann Jost. "My sister and my husband came and took me by the hands and away we went, down the yellow brick road to the wonderful Emerald City of OZ. No worries there, no cares there, just happiness forever after. I'm over the rainbow now. Goodbye." In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lybia Temple No. 32, Daughters of the Nile or the Scottish Rite Foundation of Utah, 650 East South Temple, SLC, Utah, 84102. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2007 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main where friends may call 10:30-11:00 a.m. prior to services.
