Obituary: David Emery Thompson

David Emery Thompson Proud Hoosier David Emery Thompson passed away November 2, 2007 surrounded by his family. He was born in Aurora, Illinois to Walter and Celia Thompson. His family moved to a farm in Reynolds, Indiana where he spent a happy childhood and learned his hard work ethic. Dave enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served his country for three years. He married Norma Downs in 1947. He received a BS degree in business statistics from Indiana University and a master's degree in mathematics from Michigan State in 1951. Dave's career as a statistician started an Allegheny Ballistics Lab in Maryland. He came to Utah in 1959 to be part of the Minuteman Missile Program at Hercules Aerospace. Dave had a 36-year distinguised career at Hercules including service as the plant manager before his retirement in 1990 when he returned to farm life on Dimple Dell Road. Dave married Kathy Thompson in 1987. He will be missed by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Pat (Bill Pitcher) and Celia; sons, David Royce, Jared and Orion Eberhardt and four grandchildren, John, David, Julie and Jackson. Dave was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom, Royce and Andy. Graveside services will be Tues. November 6, 2007, 3 p.m. at Mt. View Memorial Park, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT. Friends and famiy may call one hour prior to services.
