Pearl Elizabeth Schrader Ashton
10/26/1909 ~ 9/21/2007
Pearl Elizabeth Schrader Ashton passed away September 21, 2007 at the age of 97. Pearl was born in Salt Lake City October 26, 1909. She was the oldest of five children born to Wally Kunkel and Herman Schrader. She was married to Claude Irving Ashton in the Salt Lake Temple March 23, 1932. Claude passed away December 10, 1955. Pearl and Claude were the parents of six children, David (Colleen), Jack (Marie), Roberta, Rebecca (Von Brock bank), (David Ward, deceased), Paul (DeAnn), Edward (Sally); 28 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Pearl leaves behind a valiant legacy of love for her family and devotion to children. Pearl graduated from LDS High School. She loved travel and adventure and took many trips with family and friends. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She was awarded the Golden Gleaner. She held many callings in the church and her philosophy was, "We need the Church more than the Church needs us." After her husband's death, Pearl operated Ashton's Happy Day Nursery for 37 years. She was a tremendous example of a hardworking, faithful and honest person to all, including many children she raised both in her family and in her nursery.
Many thanks over the years to family, friends, and neighbors who loved and supported Mother in all aspects of life. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for your contributions to her welfare and thoughtful deeds time after time. Mother was blessed to have a wonderful family, ward, friends, and neighbors! The family also expresses thanks to Hospice Alliance's caretakers.
