Evelyn W Furner passed away peacefully September 6th 2007.Evelyn was born July 12, 1922 in Smuggler, Colorado to Lorenzo and Thelma Wootton. She married her childhood sweetheart, Harry Swain, November 18th 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. Harry passed away April 27th 1953. Evelyn later married Clyde D Furner in the Salt Lake Temple. Clyde also preceded her in death.
Evelyn completed her college degree following Harry's death. She taught and loved hundreds of children in her kindergarten classes during her 22 year teaching career. Her life was focused on those things that mattered most, her children, her family, lifelong friends, students, and the church she loved.
Evelyn was courageous. She faced the circumstances of life with courage, never permitting difficulties to dim her resolve to make good things happen. The geography of her life's work was relatively small but her impact on lives was boundless. We are grateful to have been loved by such a person.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Sutherland, Salt Lake, Lew and Patrice Swain, Farmington; sisters, Barbera Lewis (Ben), Provo, Madelyn Larsen (Don), Sammamish, Washington, Mima Swain Daniels, Provo, Mack Swain (La Rie), Orem; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grand-children; three great great-grand-children; children and grandchildren of Clyde, who she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thurs. Sept. 13th 2007 at the Brighton 5th Ward chapel, 2562 East Bengal Blvd, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Wed. from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Cannon Funeral Home, 2460 Bengal Blvd. (7600 S), Salt Lake City, UT and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Primary Childrens Hospital. Our thanks to the Highland Care Center and Care Source for their tender attention to our mother.
