Art C. Ashton 1928 ~ 2007 Art C. Ashton 78 passed away July 17, 2007 in Salt Lake City after a long illness. Born in Richfield, Utah to Clyde J. and Joy Colby Ashton on August 2, 1928. He attended schools in Richfield and Salt Lake City. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the American Foundry. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Art loved to fish, camp and delighted in watching old western movies. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Merla Gibson Spears Ashton. Children Vern (Shirlyn) Spears, Helen Joy, James Grant, Holly (Aaron) Wayman. Sister Fern (John) Lasker. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and Gabby his faithful dog. Preceded in death by his parents, son Clyde Art, stepdaughter Kathleen Crown, sister Frieda Wardle and brother Richard Gail. A Graveside service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery 3401 South Highland Drive. A viewing will be held Saturday July 21, at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary 372 East 100 South. The family wishes to extend special thanks to his VA Medical Center primary care provider and his Superior Health Hospice care providers for their care and kindness during the past three years.
