Obituary: Fae Richey Nichols

Fae Richey Nichols 1925 ~ 2007 Fae Richey Nichols, 82, died June 19, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah, of injuries due to a fall. She was born January 17, 1925 in Monroe, Utah, to Elton Richey (LeGrand Ferris) and Margie Bodil Thueson Richey. She grew up on the family farm in Ashton, Idaho, graduated from North Fremont High and received her teaching degree from Ricks College. She was a resident of Salt Lake City since 1946. On June 5, 1946, she married Herman Victor Nichols in the Idaho Falls Temple. She was an active, dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in Stake and Ward Sunday School, Primary, Scouting and Relief Society positions. She served as a missionary with her husband in the Virginia Roanoke and Wells Stake missions. She taught elementary school in Idaho Falls and Salt Lake. Also employed by the Relief Society and Federal Government (USDA). Preceded in death by her beloved parents, brothers, Robert Gareth and Larry Dean Richey and an infant son, Bruce R Nichols.Survived by her husband, brothers: Darrell (Helen), Reid (Jessica), Grant (Shirley) and Wayne (Marie); three sons: Craig R. (Aleath), Scott V (Patte) and David H (Tina), seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Fae was dedicated to community improvement and served a variety of organizations including the PTA, SLAC, Pioneer Park restoration, neighborhood watch and Peoples Freeway community council. She spent most of her time helping people she loved and was concerned about She personified the belief that "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God". Our wife and mother wanted her friends and neighbors to feel safe and happy in their homes, enjoy living in a diversified community and be protected from unfair treatment. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at McKinley Ward, 1883 South West Temple, Salt Lake City at noon. A public viewing will be held at the same site on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 to 11:50 Saturday preceding the funeral.
