Sylvia Zilonka Bruening 1931 ~ 2007 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on May 14, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. Born October 16, 1931 to George Willy Zilonka and Gertrude Ann Franke. Married the love of her life, Wayne John Bruening on December 22, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fun loving, caring, and supportive to all that knew and loved her. Accomplished and well known for her teachings and compilations of personal life histories for numerous families. Author of "Life Stories", a guide to writing personal life histories which is still being used today as a guideline. She enjoyed teaching at BYU Education Week. Her heart and home were always open to everyone. She always spoke a kind word and was a delight to be around. Her family was her greatest treasure and they look forward to being with her again one day. She is survived by her husband, Wayne John Bruening of 56 years; her three children John Wayne Bruening, Mark Robert Bruening (Georgia) and Jill Bruening Stimatz; nine grandchildren, Bud (Celeste), Cody, Josh, Alicia Hills (Brett), Jeremy (Andrea), Craig (Jill) Bruening, and Mike, Liz and Milan Stimatz; four great-grandchildren; and one brother Siegfried Zilonka (Lois). Preceded in death by her sister Gisela. Thanks for the parties grandma. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 East 10600 South, where family and friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services.
