Obituary: Marie Afton Clark

Marie Afton Clark 1915 ~ 2007 Marie Afton Robinson Clark, 91, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 27, 2007, with her devoted husband at her side. She was born November 20, 1915, in Lehi, Utah to Beulah Adams and George Garrett Robinson. She married Ward Rhodes Clark on February 14, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She graduated from Lehi High with honors in 1934 where she lettered in debate. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University. Marie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in various callings throughout the years. She loved to go for walks and entered many fun runs. At 78 years old, she won a medal for being the oldest contestant. She was a dedicated homemaker, loved to garden and spent many hours canning fruits and vegetables from the family garden. She is survived by her husband, Ward; a daughter and two sons, Marda M. (Gregory) Towerton; Martin R. (Cindy) Clark; Francis J. (Patti) Clark; and 14 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter, Ashley Hinkson. The family would like to thank hospice nurses and aides, loving Ward members, dedicated Home and Visiting Teachers that helped to care for Marie. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, May 4, 2007 at the American Fork 13th Ward, 975 N. 60 E. Friends and family may call Thursday at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. Interment in the Lehi City Cemetery.
