Joan S. Nelsen 1932 ~ 2007 BRIGHAM CITY- Joan Smoot Nelsen, 75, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the Brigham City Hospital Friday April 27, 2007 surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Farmington, Utah March 7, 1932 a daughter of A.V. and Martha Millard Smoot. She married Kirk R. Nelsen June 28, 1950 in the Logan Temple. Joan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society presidency, and scouting. Her most special calling was her many years of association with "her Primary boys." Surviving are her husband, Kirk; children, Pamela (David) Muirbrook, Farmington, Kevin (Karen) Nelsen, Pleasant View, Daniel (Heidi) Nelsen, Alpine, Mitchell Nelsen, Brigham City; grandchildren,Michael (Laura) Muirbrook, Richard (Julie) Muirbrook, Samuel (Jamie) Muirbrook, James (Ali) Muirbrook, Jason (Tracey) Nelsen, Marcie (James) Alcorn, Russell (Brittany) Nelsen, Phillip (Paige) Nelsen, Casey Nelsen, Ryan Nelsen, Autumn Nelsen, Abbey Nelsen, Austin Nelsen, Alexander Nelsen, Joseph Nelsen, Zachary Nelsen; 13 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jordan, Colton, Caitlin, Hayden, Davis, Alice, Megan, Joseph, Tyler, Annie, Jaxon, and Kamryn; brothers and sisters, Martha Jean (Jim) Bunting, Karen Smoot, Alene Thompson, Rulon (Donna) Smoot, William (Karla) Smoot, Edna (Dee) Hardy, Kathy (Pete) Young, David Smoot, Dick Smoot, Robert (Jean) Nelsen. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Smoot; one brother-in-law, Reid Thompson; and one sister-in-law, Geri Nelsen. Her entire life was dedicated to her family, which was the joy and fulfillment of her life. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007 at the Brigham City South Stake Center, 865 S. 300 W, Brigham City. Friends may call Sunday, April 29, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E, Brigham City and Mon. from 10-10:40 a.m. at the church.
