Sterling D. Jones 1917 - 2007 Statesman, Horseman, Gentleman Spanish Fork, UT. Sterling D. Jones, 89, son of David H. and Mary E. Nielson Jones died at home Tuesday, February 20, 2007 with his wife and three daughters lovingly at his side. Sterling and Dorothy Fern Pulver, of Payson, married 68 years ago and are parents of Marylyn Jones (Sterling) Argyle, Elaine Jones (J.P.) Hughes and Kathleen Jones. They have 11 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Following his father's example, he became a public servant being elected as the youngest Justice of the Peace, Deputy Sheriff, and Republican Party district and county chair. Sterling served as Utah County Commissioner for 10 years- six as Chairman, the first President of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, President and member of Board of Directors for the Eldred Foundation, Chairman of the local Farm Bureau and Director of Utah County Road Department. He loved farming and was recognized for his crops, cattle, hogs and race horse. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church. Sterling is known for his integrity, honesty, goodness and kindness to all. Friends may call Sunday, March 4, from 5-8 p.m. at the Jones Historic Home, home of his birth, 143 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork. Funeral Services are Monday, March 5, 2 p.m. at the Spanish Fork West Stake Center, 360 N. 650 W. Friends may call at the Stake Center prior to the service from 12:45 to 1:45PM. Interment at Spanish Fork Cemetery. Services rendered by Berg Mortuary, Provo.
