NORWAY BLASTS SOVIETS OVER BORDER INCIDENT

Norway issued a sharp protest to the Soviet Union after five Soviet soldiers and a Norwegian fisherman were involved in a border incident, the national news agency NTB reported Saturday.

Norway said the Soviet soldiers entered 110 yards into Norwegian territory and chased fisherman Werner Pedersen, 45. Norwegian border official Edward Larsen said the Soviets fired at Pedersen, but he was not wounded.According to the Soviets, Pedersen was fishing on the Soviet side and was chased back into Norway.

The incident occurred Thursday. Norway and the Soviet Union share a border within the Arctic Circle, near the Soviet port of Murmansk.

Sergei Komissarov, deputy chief of the Soviet embassy in Oslo, was called to the foreign ministry Friday to give an explanation of the incident and to hear Norway's protest.
