Mary Lucy Searle Schriever Together Forever Mary Lucy Searle Schriever, age 91, a long time resident of Springville, passed away quietly December 20, 2006. She was born September 2, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the first of six children born to Keros Harry (Ross) and Lily Watkins Searle. Her childhood was spent in Salt Lake City. She graduated from East High School in 1931. She received a B.A. degree from the University of Utah in 1935 where she was a member of Theta Alpha Phi. Mary married her eternal companion, William Clarence Schriever, August 9, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent their first years in Salt Lake City. They moved to Carbon County during World War II for a few years before returning to Salt Lake City. The family moved to Springville, Utah in 1947. Before she was married, she taught school in Salt Lake and Tremonton. After moving to Springville, she returned to teaching kindergarten in the Nebo School District. She was a beloved teacher. She helped many young students on their way to learning. Many of her former students sought her out expressing how she was their favorite teacher. Mary was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings. She lost her beloved husband, Clary, December 11, 1995 and has been anxious to once again be with him. She is survived by a daughter Mary Ann (Ben) Fietkau, and three sons Ross William (Sue) Schriever, John Clarence (Janet) Schriever and Glen Searle (Nancy) Schriever. She also has 24 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is survived by two sisters, Ruby (Dick) Brown and Patricia (Dee, deceased) Lowder and a sister-in-law Margaret (LaVerl, deceased) Schriever. She was preceded in death by a brother Allen (Helen, deceased) Searle, sisters, Phyllis (Bill) White, and Beverly (Harold, deceased) Spencer. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center at 555 South 600 East in Springville. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah. In lieu of flowers, Mary requested donations be made to the American Diabetic Association. Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuary.com
