John Deleslie Tolson Our Papa John D. Tolson passed away August 24, 2006 with his family at his side in Sandy, Utah. Born Sept. 19, 1931 in Charlotte, North Carolina, a place he loved. He leaves to be with his parents, John Sidney Tolson and Maude Moss Tolson, his younger sisters, Melba Williams and Ramona Davenport, and most importantly, his eternal companion, Janet Lee Korthof and his Savior, Jesus Christ. J.D. was very loyal and had a strong work ethic, which along with his playful spirit helped him excel in every aspect of his life. His contributions to the Insurance Industry, Falcon Football, AARP Driver Training, Clique Food Club, Berryhill High friends, and United States Air Force, are many and equaled with his service in his church. All were tools to meet and cultivate life-long friends. His favorite callings were as husband, father, papa, and Priesthood holder. He led by example with a positive attitude. If he wasn't smiling, he had a tear in his eye due to his tender heart. He is survived by his most precious gifts and accomplishments - his family and friends. He leaves fond memories in this life with his children, Leslie D. and David L. Baker, Cynthia L. and Dean W. Luikart, Johns S. and Stephanie L. Tolson, and Jill S. and Michael J. Beard. His prized grandchildren are David Lorden and Becky Baker, Eric Baker, Kelly Baker, Nicholas Baker, Ben and Andrea Luikart, Andrew Luikart, Matthew Luikart, Rebecca Luikart, J.D. Tolson, Mackenzie Tolson, Quinn Tolson, Crystal Beard, Michael Beard, Melvin Beard, Colby Beard, Morgan Beard, his first great-grandchild, Alexis Baker. Nearly as important as family are those close friends he leaves behind in North and South Carolina, Fresno, Tucson, Simi Valley, Salt Lake City and all over the world. A viewing will be on Thursday, August 31st from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 So. 900 E. Murray, Utah.
