Merland James "Jim" Snarr 1936 ~ 2006 We shall go on to the end. Winston Churchill FARMINGTON- Jim Snarr, age 70, passed away August 27, 2006 at home in Farmington, Utah, after a short struggle with colon and liver cancer. Jim was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Merland and Annabelle Snarr. The second of four children, Jim grew up on a potato farm, where he learned hard work and developed a love for books and reading. He was best known as a "son," "husband," "father," but mostly as a gifted "teacher." He taught public school five years in Arizona, and following a 22-year career in real estate, he returned once again to education in 1990, teaching another 16 years of English, history, and geography at West Jordan High and West Hills Middle School, from which he recently retired in June. He was a member of the LDS church and excelled at teaching the scriptures, making them "come to life," both on a mission to England/Scotland and in gospel doctrine classes over the years. Jim married Geraldine Whitworth Johnson in the Idaho Falls Temple on January 20, 1959. Their union was blessed with four sons. Jim was preceded in death by his eldest son, Scott, and is survived by his wife, Gerri, sons Mike (Julee) of North Salt Lake; Todd (Andrea) of Kaysville; Chris (Amber) of West Jordon; four and a half grandchildren (Olivia, Gabby, John, Jaren), and his siblings: Doug (Carol) Snarr of Salt Lake; D.A. (Ken) Carter of Scottsdale, AZ; and Lee (Sydney) Snarr of North Salt Lake. Funeral services will be held on Fri., Sept. 1 at 11:00 at the 11th Ward LDS Chapel, 200 E. 695 S., Farmington; interment to follow, Farmington City Cemetery. Friends may call Thurs. evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary, 1941 N. Main (across from Cherry Hill) and one hour prior to services at the church.
