The Utah Department of Transportation has opened bids on a project to begin construction of the Wasatch County "A" line highway. The new road will run along the south side of the soon-to-be-built Jordanelle Reservoir from U.S. 40 north of Heber to near Francis, Summit County.
Gilbert Western of Salt Lake City had the apparent low bid, but the project will not be awarded until all the bids are reviewed. When complete, the new highway will have two 12-foot traffic lanes with six-foot shoulders and 11-foot climbing lanes in uphill areas.
Work on the project is expected to begin soon, and the road is expected to be opened to traffic by the fall of 1989. Funding for the construction comes from the Bureau of Reclamation.
