The death of a 13-year-old Bountiful boy on June 23 resulted from the accidental discharge of a rifle, Bountiful Police Chief Larry Higgins said Friday.

Matt Sharp was shot in the head shortly after noon at the home of a 12-year-old neighbor boy. Sharp was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center and later died.Higgins said police determined the rifle discharged when the 12-year-old accidentally bumped the butt of the weapon into a wall. He said the incident was clearly accidental.

An earlier Deseret News story mistakenly gave the address of the home where the shooting occurred as the victim's home.
