ALPINE APPOINTS 2 NEW PRINCIPALS
The Alpine School District administration has announced the appointment of two new elementary principals and the transfer of six others.
"We are pleased to announce the appointment of Sheldon Worthington and Phillip Armstrong as elementary principals," said Luana Searle, administrator of elementary schools. "Both of these men come to the position with a proven background of educational leadership."Worthington is an administrative assistant with the district, which is a training position. He has also served as the acting assistant principal for American Fork Junior High School for the past year. He has been assigned to Greenwood Elementary, where he will replace Bruce Wathen who is being transferred.
Armstrong has been a principal intern for the past three years at three schools: Wasatch High School, Canyon View Junior High School and Orchard Elementary School. He will replace Cedar Valley Elementary Principal Jim Melville, who is being transferred.
Transfers include Dan Adams, principal at Highland Elementary, to Sharon Elementary; Brent Milne, on special assignment with the Utah Principals' Academy, to Orem Elementary; Kathy Whitbeck, principal at Sharon Elementary, to Highland Elementary; Bruce Wathen, principal at Greenwood Elementary, to Bonneville Elementary; Karl Bowman, principal at Westmore Elementary, to Cherry Hill Elementary (where he will replace Darrell Jensen, who is retiring); and Jim Melville, principal at Cedar Valley Elementary, to Westmore Elementary.
