LEHI

- Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Ila Swenson, age 89 of Lehi, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2003 at American Fork Hospital, surrounded by her family who dearly loved her.

Ila was born Oct. 7, 1914 in Lehi, Utah, the daughter of Anchor Carlos and Laura Davis Schow. She was a graduate of Lehi High School and BYU, having served as Student-body President at both schools. She taught high school in Spanish Fork, Utah before her marriage to Calvin Helge Swenson, Aug. 18, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. Her sweetheart, Calvin, passed away Nov. 18, 1999, and we know there was a joyous reunion on the other side of the veil.

Ila loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was her castle and everyone felt welcome there. She loved the beauties of nature and especially flowers. She was a wonderful cook and loved serving others. She loved quilting and she has quilted a quilt for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and future great-grandchildren, as well as many others.

Ila was a devoted member of the LDS Church and loved serving the Lord, especially in the Temple. She served with her sweetheart in the Provo Temple as an assistant Matron and in the sealing office. They also served in the Mt. Timpanogos and Atlanta Temples.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Elden, her husband, Calvin, and one granddaughter, Melissa Sue Peterson. She is survived by six children, Stephen (Ann) Swenson, Lane (Janet) Swenson, Pleasant Grove; Judith (Stephen) Burningham, Connie (Hal) Allen, Orem; Shauna (Blake) Peterson, Coalville; and Launa (John) Reese, currently serving an LDS mission in Melbourne, Australia. Survived by 34 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Childs and Erma (Howard) Frandsen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi 5th/9th Ward chapel, 463 E. 300 N., Lehi. Friends may call Friday, Nov. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E.
