Eternal Companions
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Irene Kleven Christiansen, was called home Sunday, November 9, 2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Irene was born Dec 23, 1912, in Salt Lake City, UT. She was one of five children born to Gustav Kleven and Anna Hjornevik Kleven. She married her sweetheart, Rolf Christiansen, Feb 6, 1933, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Irene's greatest joy was taking care of her family and supporting her husband in his many responsibilities. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She loved to sew and crochet. Her grandchildren were her greatest treasure.
Irene served actively and lovingly in the LDS Church in various capacities. Most of her service was in the Relief Society, part of which was as secretary for 13 years.
Irene is survived by her six children, Barbara (Richard Fox), Rolf Kay (Tami), Renn Kleven (Shiree), Irene Ann (Walter Heyman), Mark Kent, Debra (Steve Eckman); 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Adeline Proctor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolf; parents; brothers, Gustave, Berger; and sister, Edna.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Alta Ridge Alzheimer Community for their loving service shown to Irene during her stay.
Mom, you were a wonderful example of hard work, service and unconditional love, and we will miss you greatly. We are blessed to have had you as our mother and grandmother.
