Obituary: Mabel Lareau Snay

Mabel Lareau Snay, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Tues, Nov. 4, 2003 at the age of 88 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Born April 12, 1915, Mabel was the ninth child of Treffle and Delia Lareau of Spencer, Massachusetts.

Mabel graduated from Becker Business School and worked as an executive secretary at various times during her life.

She was married to Raymond A. Snay who was the president and general manager of the Marane Oil Corporation in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Mabel served as a dedicated volunteer at Hahneman Hospital in Worcester for many years. She was a member of the Worcester Women's Club and the Worcester Art Museum. She enjoyed taking classes at Clark University just to satisfy her great love for learning. Mabel was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church.

In 1963, Mabel and Ray built a retirement home in Paxton, Massachusetts and lived there until Raymond's death in 1984. Following his death, Mabel moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where her younger daughter Louise Zarr resides.

Mabel is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Richard) Hellawell, Louise (Thomas) Zarr; six-grandchildren Stephen, Lisa, Laurie, Amy, Tom, Melissa and five great-grandchildren.

A Funeral mass will be celebrated Sat., 11:30 a.m. at Christus St. Joseph Villa, 451 Bishop Federal Lane. A viewing will be held Sat. at 10 a.m. at Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South. Visitation from 11 a.m. until mass at Christus St. Joseph Villa. Committal Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E. 500 S.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the priests, sisters, doctors, nurses and staff at the Villa for their kind and patient care of Mabel over the years.
