Obituary: Diane B. Mitchell

Diane B. Mitchell, age 65, passed away November 5, 2003.

She was born Feb. 23, 1938 in Salt Lake City to George and Bessie Anderson Burden. Married Jay I. Mitchell in 1958 by Apostle Hugh B. Brown.

Diane was an active member of the LDS church and was a great teacher, mentor, and leader. She served in numerous capacities as camp director, sports director, and in the Primary. Diane truly loved school and was a "book-a-day" reader. She attended Granite High School where she was part of the Drill Team and graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1956. She was on the Deans list in college as she obtained her nursing certificate. Diane was also a Certified Tax Advisor who loved art, painting, music, and traveling around the world. She was a very confident person, as her life accomplishments were many.

She is survived by her husband, Jay; son, Rick Mitchell; daughters Susie Zwan, Dena (Carey) Palmer, Kristine (Coy Rooney) Weeks; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barbara Burden and her best friend, Janet Runyan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Toni Lynn Bailey, and brother, Richard Burden.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at the Midvale 4th Ward, 87 E. 7100 S., at 10 a.m. Friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment Redwood Memorial.
