Obituary: Lars LaVar ""Bud"" Nielsen

Lars LaVar "Bud" Nielsen, 96, died Sunday, November 2, 2003 at the Beehive House in Salem, Utah.

He was born November 18, 1906 in Spanish Fork, Utah to James and Rebecca P. Nielsen. He married Isabel Davis on June 16, 1930 in Spanish Fork. They were blessed with four children: Darrel, James Samuel, Barbara Jean, and Marsha.

He spent his entire life in Spanish Fork. He worked as a rancher, and cattle and sheep man with his brothers Lynn and J. Ross. He was well known in his ward and the community. He had much compassion and integrity. He was a wonderful father, brother, and neighbor.

Bud is survived by his daughter, Marsha (John Nick) Edman, of Salem; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and six sisters: J. Ross Nielsen, Norma Broadbent, Jane Strong, Kathleen Whitehead, Florence Ruth Creer, Lois Ottesen, and Lola Stone; a son-in-law, Jay Stewart; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Nielsen. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons and one daughter.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 6, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary Chapel, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork. Friends may call at the mortuary from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Beehive House of Salem for their loving care for the last five years.
