Obituary: Orval H. Mecham
Orval H Mecham, 79, of Lindon, died Nov. 1, 2003 at Orchard Park Care Center in Orem.
He was born Jan. 27, 1924 in Wallsburg to Marquis (Mark) Herbert and Myrtie Heward Mecham. He married LaDean Hone on June 19, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Orval grew up in Wallsburg and attended high school in Heber. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in India, China, and Burma and trained with the last horse cavalry. Orval farmed in Wallsburg and moved to Lindon in 1956 where he continued to farm. He worked at Geneva Steel for almost 30 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including the Bishopric as Ward Clerk and Executive Secretary, in the MIA, in the Sunday School, as Cub Scout Master, and as a Seventy.
He is survived by his wife, LaDean, of Lindon; and seven children: Carolyn
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 7, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lindon Central Stake Center, 56 E. 600 North, Lindon. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery where District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military honors.
