Obituary: Arthur Christiansen
Arthur (Art) Christiansen passed away Oct. 30, 2003 of heart failure.
He was born in April 1917 to Angel Signor and Augusta Christiansen. He attended schools in Idaho. In May of 1938 he married Evelyn Cobbley in Declo, Idaho. They enjoyed 65 years together.
He was a veteran of World War II and served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy Sea Bees and was on the invasion of Guadalcanal and Guam.
Upon his return he started a career in homebuilding and developed several subdivisions in Salt Lake and Ogden. He served as the President of the Utah Home Builders Association and was named homebuilder of the year in 1958. He developed the Nordic Valley Ski and Golf Resort east of Ogden. He moved to Sun City Arizona with his wife in the summer of 1977 where he sold real estate for several years. Art loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed golfing and traveling. His parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife and three children: Carole (Monte) Beesley of LaVerne, CA, Dennis (Barbara) Christiansen of Glendale, AZ and Patricia Walters of Peoria, AZ. Also four surviving sisters: Clara Laird, Ruth Barker, Gladys Goudy and Peggy Beck. Art leaves behind nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday November 7th in Sun City, Arizona. In lieu of flower donation may be made to the Hospice of the Valley (Arizona) or the American Heart Association.
