E&S reaches deal to sell simulators to Russians

Salt Lake-based Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. has entered into teaming agreements with the Russian Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute and Penza Simulation Design Co. to introduce E&S advanced visual simulation technologies to the Russian training market and other countries using Russian aircraft.

In addition to simulators for new aircraft programs, the team will upgrade existing simulators. Major simulation programs include the Mil-8 helicopter and transport aircraft. The companies will also work together on civil aviation projects.

Founded in 1918, TsAGI is the one of the largest scientific research centers in the world and focuses on basic aerospace studies, applied research, structural design, pilot training and testing. Established in 1946 to develop preflight test systems for airborne equipment, Penza has been designing and manufacturing flight simulators since 1957. Its simulators are used by 46 countries operating Russian-made aircraft.
