ROOSEVELT A man died in a traffic accident Saturday after the vehicle he was riding in hit a horse on U-121 near LaPoint in Uintah County.
Killed was:
Frederick James Cornpeach, 35, Whiterocks.
Carmalita Olivera Montes, 31, of Roosevelt, was driving east when the vehicle apparently hit a horse and then went off the road on the south side, according to a Roosevelt police report.
Montes suffered a broken neck as well as facial and head injuries and was transported to a hospital, according to the report. She was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol and automobile homicide.
Cornpeach suffered head and neck injuries in the accident, which was reported at 1:50 a.m., the report said.
The pair were not wearing seat belts and had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to police. The road was wet with light rain, the report said.
