The Salt Lake YouthCity after-school program starts again on Sept. 17, so parent orientations are set for Wednesday and Thursday evening. Interested parents can attend either session from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Central City Recreation Center, 615 S. 300 East.
YouthCity, a Salt Lake Mayor's Office program, offers a variety of classes for elementary and middle school students. Visual art, filmmaking, chess, gardening, skateboarding, dance and many other classes are taught from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from noon to 6 p.m. Fridays. YouthCity staffers can pick up children from most local schools, and they provide snacks and all materials for the classes. For information call Ken Perko at 538-2062, Ext. 231.
