Vocalist Thom E. Yorke, guitarist/keyboardist Jonny Greenwood, guitarist Ed O'Brien, bassist Colin Greenwood and drummer Phil Selway collectively known as Radiohead will play the USANA Amphitheatre Thursday. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35-$42, available at Smith'sTix outlets or by calling 467-8499 or 1-800-888-8499. USANA officials encourage carpooling.
Radiohead formed in 1982 in Oxford, England. For nearly 21 years the band has honed its sound to become one of the music scene's premiere "dream-rock" band. The group's blend of progressive and modern rock, with a load of introspective lyrics, have caused critics to label Radiohead a "thinking man's rock band."
The band's 1997 album "OK Computer" was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Alternative Album category. Three years later, the band's album "Kid A," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts in 2000, won the Best Alternative Album Grammy.
Radiohead's new album "Hail to the Thief" was hijacked, and an unfinished version wound up online, easy prey for bootleggers. The band did voice its dismay. The official album was released in June.
