The Kimball Visual Arts Center, Weber State University, will expand its "Fabulous Fridays" in the Shaw Gallery. Students will receive a half-day gallery talk and hands-on activity to supplement their schooling in the arts. Students will see "Derek Boshier: Works on Paper: A Retrospective — 1957-2003," which runs from Aug. 25 through Oct. 25.

Jean Arnold, a local artist, will have an exhibition, "The Moving Perceptions of Jean Arnold," in the Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, Ark., from Aug. 22 through Oct. 19.

The Utah Arts Council's Visual Arts Program will have a workshop, "Portfolio Development and Gallery Presentation," on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Resource Center, 310 S. Rio Grande (455 West). Clayton Williams, owner of Williams Fine Art Gallery, will conduct the workshop, discussing what makes an impressive portfolio and the dos and don'ts of presenting work to a gallery director. The Salt Lake Art Center, 20 S. West Temple, will host another ART TALK on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. Rod Titus, a San Francisco Bay area landscape painter with discuss the work of Stephen Schultz and Romey Stuckart, whose work is currently on display at the center. Admission is free.

The Mesa, a nonprofit arts and humanities residency located at the mouth of Zion National Park, will host a Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition, "Key Ingredients: America By Food," from Aug. 23 through Oct. 4 at the Zion Canyon Giant Screen Theatre Lobby. Maremi Hoof, artist in residence through Sept. 8, will participate in the exhibition by painting a large oil inspired by community recipes.
