I would like to thank the Deseret Morning News and Doug Robinson for the inspirational and in-depth story about David Draney and his valiant fight against a rare and debilitating form of cancer. As David's friend and training partner at BYU, I am very familiar with the athletic prowess he possessed and his determination to excel as a decathlete. I was less familiar, however, with many of the details of Dave's courageous battle with cancer.
Your article was a wonderful tribute to him and to his wife, Carol, who never left his side. Regrettably, I did not take the time to see David prior to his passing, but your story provided me an opportunity of sorts to see him one more time. It is also a source of comfort knowing that Dave may be gone but he is not forgotten.
