"Pirates of the Caribbean" is one of the best films I've seen all year. The Motion Picture Association of America rated the film PG-13, a suitable rating for a violent but non-gory movie. Diane Wilson (Readers' Forum, July 30) offers herself as an example of why the MPAA rating system doesn't work parental negligence. The PG-13 rating equates to parental guidance over the age of 13. The film "Holes" was rated PG, which stands for parental guidance suggested. If Wilson feels her children would be warped by such "unrated-R violence and ugliness," maybe she should take up her role as a parental figure and screen the film before allowing her children to watch.
