Vice President Dick Cheney will make a quick stop in Salt Lake City Monday for a fund-raising luncheon for his and President Bush's re-election race next year.
Allyson Bell, a volunteer coordinator for the event, said it is hoped Cheney can raise approximately $300,000 at a luncheon in the Grand America Hotel. The $1,000-per-person event is by invitation only; Cheney will make no public appearances during his stopover, she said.
The Bush-Cheney ticket has already set fund-raising records, with the president bringing in more than $40 million in recent fund-raising trips.
Bush-Cheney carried Utah easily in the 2000 election. Utahns have not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
