PROVO – A traditional Grand March opens Colonial Days for the fourth consecutive year as re-enactors recall the days of America's Founding Fathers.

The Crandall Historical Printing Museum's event is July 2, 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. until dusk, at 275 E. Center, said owner Lou Crandall.

The public may join the "Colonials" with their traditional Grand March and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:45 a.m. Thursday. Participants meet at the east side of Berg Mortuary, 200 E. Center. Provo City and Utah County officials, school children and county employees are expected to join the festivities.

Family activities include a living museum adventure where the public can help print replicas of the Declaration of Independence on the museum's genuine English Common Press, or sign a replica of the Mayflower Compact.

The tour includes a colonial encampment of the 1700s where guests may join with re-enactors to participate in daily life activities of the time, sample authentic period food or play children's games from the era. Also included are an Indian village and Benjamin Franklin Mercantile.

A large collection of documents and letters of the era from the Brent Ashworth Hall of History are expected to be on display. Other items include a chalk artist, the Old Glory Vintage Dancers, storytellers and musicians.
