Among the Michael Jackson comments was that the King of Pop is in the same pantheon with Mozart, and that is so true. When Mozart stood on stage and grabbed his crotch, the frauleins went wild.

Also, a bit over the top was Ryan O'Neal's comment that Farrah Fawcett "now belongs to the ages," a phrase spoken at the death bed of Abraham Lincoln in 1865.

I mean no disrespect, but could we have a little perspective? Would Ed McMahon, who also died last week, want it said that he was first in the hearts of his countrymen?

That was George Washington, of course, who ranks right up there with Kurt Cobain.
