SPANISH FORK — A bit of Iceland comes again to Spanish Fork with the annual Icelandic Days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Icelanders settled Spanish Fork in the 1850s after converting to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many of their descendants still remain in the area.

The Icelandic Association of Utah sponsors the event, which begins Friday at 7 p.m. with culture workshops at the LDS meetinghouse at 1006 E. 200 South. One of the four presentations is "Fun Facts About Iceland," by Jack Tobbiasson of Payson.

On Saturday the Iceland Days Family and Friends Fair begins at 10 a.m. with a flag ceremony at Spanish Fork City Park, Main and Center.

It features family activities and Icelandic food. A bus tour of historic Icelandic sites begins at 2 p.m.

The celebration continues Sunday with the Heritage Fireside beginning at 7 p.m. in the LDS meetinghouse at 300 E. Center. Speakers are Icelander Kristjana H. Bardardottir and Robert L. Millet, who served as Ancient Scripture Department chairman and dean of Religious Education at Brigham Young University
