I went to journalism school. I know the difference between a reporter and an opinion columnist. I'm the latter.

I get paid to write my opinions. When I was a reporter, I dealt with just the facts. That hasn't been my job for nearly two decades.

Accusing me of expressing my opinions is sort of like accusing the sky of being blue.

 You're not representing your readers. All of us think you're wrong. You should apologize.

Well, my job is to write my opinion, not to guess what people want me to write.

And there has been lots of support along with the attacks. All our readers are not of one mind.

As for the contention that I should retract my opinion because I'm in the minority, at least one opinion poll indicated that Letterman had the support of more than two-thirds of Americans.

I'm not actually suggesting that anyone change their opinion based on a perception of who has the most support. Just don't make that suggestion to me, either.

First of all, are you really that threatened by an opposing viewpoint? Palin herself said, "Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction."

Silencing me would sort of run counter to that statement, wouldn't it?

And, besides, if you're really concerned about children and family values, would you really want my three kids to have their father thrown out of work?
