The Utah High School Football Coaches Association will stage its annual all-star games at Alta High on Saturday night. The 1A and 2A all-stars will take on the 3A all-stars at 5 p.m., while the 4A and 5A all-stars will play at 8 p.m. The games will feature some of Utah's best prep football players, many of whom will be moving on to play college football.

"We've got a lot of big names playing," said Alta head coach Les Hamilton. Alta quarterback Ammon Olsen, Hawks wide receiver Parker Webster and Pleasant Grove defensive back LaSean Wilcox, are just a few of the stars who will take the field on Saturday, June 20.

Full rosters will be published later in the week.

OPEN HOUSE FOR SUDBURY: Family and friends are honoring retiring high school athletics coach Sonny Sudbury later this week. An open house is being held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at 7181 W. 3800 South. All former coaches, players and friends are welcome to attend.

Sudbury is retiring from teaching and coaching after 42 years. His first head high school coaching position (football) was at South Summit from 1967-69. He then coached baseball at Bingham, winning three straight state titles from 1974-76. He also coached football at Bingham for 16 years, with a stop at Tooele High between coaching the Miners' baseball and football teams.

Sudbury closed his coaching career at Cyprus, where he led the Pirates' football team the last nine years.

TWO T-WOLVES MOVE ON: Two Timpanogos girls basketball players have signed letters of intent to play college basketball.

Amanda Larsen signed with Central Wyoming and Jessica Fisher signed with Northwest College in Wyoming.

"Amanda's deep shooting range will be a big asset to coach Serol Stauffernberg's squad," said Timpanogos head coach Liz Darger. "Amanda is a fighter. She will bring that never-say-die attitude as she competes at the next level. I'm proud of her for reaching her dream of playing college basketball."

Darger said of Fisher, "Jessica is a solid post player who is confident finishing with both hands. She has really committed herself to improving her game over the past three years. I am very proud of Jessica for the way she has represented Timpanogos and for what she will contribute to Northwest. Coach Janis Beal is getting a real gem."

NEW COACH TAKES THE FIELD: Highland High has a new baseball coach. Jake Brown, who played for Texas Tech and was twice an All Big 12 Tournament team selection, will take over the Rams program immediately. He was the assistant baseball coach at the University of Utah from 2005-07 and he was the assistant baseball coach at Yavapai College from 2003-05.
