"The museum is truly an undiscovered treasure," says Linda Hunt, executive director of the Foothill Cultural District, a consortium designed to heighten awareness of cultural attractions in the Emigration area, including Red Butte Garden, This Is the Place Heritage Park, Utah Museum of Natural History, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Hogle Zoo, Olympic Cauldron Park and Fort Douglas Military Museum. The museum sometimes get overlooked, she says, "but they have some wonderful things here. And this new stained-glass wall is just stunning. I don't know if there is another military museum in the country whose history is rendered in such a vivid and intense medium as stained glass."
The window "is a really great addition," adds Voyles. "It offers an unexpected, beautiful experience that you might not think to find in a museum on military history. It tells the history of the fort, but it is also an exquisite work of art."
