Free and reduced-price activities abound this summer

However, visit the first Monday of the month (June 1, July 6; or Aug. 3) from 5p.m. to 7 p.m. and get in for half price.

Low-cost Ideas for Families

Bingham Canyon Mine, 12800 S. state Route 111, is $5 a car for visit the world's largest open-pit copper mine. Hours are 8 a.m. to dusk. Details at www.kennecott.com.

National parks. Make an $80 investment in an annual pass, good for unlimited visits for up to four adults (children under 16 are free) to all national parks. Go to www.nps.gov/fees_passes.htm

Utah State Parks. For $75 purchase an annual pass that will admit up to seven people to any state park. Seniors can get a similar pass for $35.

Thanksgiving Point's "Family Night on the Farm," each Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $3.50 a person.
