Free and reduced-price activities abound this summer
The summer season has almost arrived, and a variety of Utah attractions beckon families for fun and enjoyment. Money may be extra tight this year, and that could put a damper on the season. But wait! There are plenty of activities and events to take in at reduced rates.
So, here's a sampling of some of the free, low cost or reduced admission options families and individuals can use this summer to stretch the entertainment/travel budget further.
FREE EVENTS
Hill Air Force Base Air Show and displays, Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more details, go to www.hill.af.mil/2009hillafbopenhouse.asp.
Car show/free hot dogs, Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the RC Willey store, 1693 W. 2700 South, Syracuse. For more information, call 801-774-2800.
This Is The Place Heritage Park offers "Jon Huntsman Free Day," Thursday, June 11, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

REDUCED-ADMISSION OFFERS
Lagoon
Take a can of Coca-Cola to any ticket window and receive up to $12 off the regular admission cost.
There are also "Stake Lagoon Days" for many LDS stakes scheduled throughout the summer, that offer substantial passport discounts, plus free gate admission and a few free ride tickets.
The annual Catholic Day, Sunday, July 12, 11 a.m. Each Catholic parish has discount tickets and offers available to members.
Some businesses also sell discount coupons. For example, Deseret Book offers $28 per person, plus tax, coupons, that are valid June 8 to Sept. 7, with some restrictions.
People 65 and older can request a complimentary "Entrance Only Ticket" from a ticket window for free admission (does not include rides) any day, except during the fall Frightmares.
