Speedy Angeline Quiocho is batting .319 with nine extra base hits. Last year's freshman of the year Kristin Delahoussaye and fellow sophomore Caschjen Davis also return to the tough lineup. And the team has been joined by a talented group of freshmen, including four players who are making their presence known full-time in the lineup.
Outfielder Tiffany Messerschmidt is leading the freshmen with a .330 batting average and is 6-6 in stolen bases. Infielder Coreen Lopez is batting .303 with eight extra base hits. Versatile Delaney Willard and infielder Krista Hicks are also finding time in the solid lineup.
The team is hoping to come back home with continued fire and finish the season strong with another top Mountain West Conference finish. Eakin also hopes to take this team beyond the NCAA Regional Championship in this year's tournament.
BYU plays its first home game of the season at Gail Miller Field on Tuesday against Boise State and will begin MWC play at Colorado State on April 2.
