Spanish Fork man killed in Wednesday crash
Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, Bryce Christensen's vehicle was traveling north on I-15 near Spanish Fork at mile marker 258 when the back of his Toyota RAV4 was clipped by a Ford SUV that had slid on a patch of ice, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Cameron Roden.
Roden said the SUV had been trying to merge from state Route 6 onto the freeway when the driver lost control and slammed into Christensen's vehicle.
Both vehicles were pushed into the median wall, but Christensen's vehicle bounced back into the lanes of travel and was broadsided on the driver's side by a semitrailer, Roden said.
Christensen was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where he died a few hours later, Roden said.
Roden said officers closed the far left lane of northbound I-15 for several hours while they cleaned up and investigated the crash.
A citation is pending against the driver of the SUV, Roden said. The driver of the SUV and the semitrailer driver were not injured.
