Dr. Richard Ferkel will perform the operation, which is expected to involve removal of a loose particle and exploratory evaluation.

Injured Nov. 19 at Milwaukee, the Jazz's leading scorer and rebounder has missed 24 straight games including Wednesday's.

OOPS: Replacement-starter power forward Paul Millsap said Wednesday that he didn't know he had tied the franchise record for consecutive double-doubles.

Perhaps that's because he hasn't.

The Jazz initially said Millsap had tied point guard John Stockton's record of 18 on Monday night against Golden State, but the team issued a correction Wednesday.

Stockton's team record for consecutive double-doubles in the same season is actually 27, running from February 27 through April 22 of 1989.

Stockton also had a 25-game streak during the 1990-91 season.

Millsap pushed his streak to 19 Wednesday, scoring a game-high 27 points and pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds.

MISC.: Jazz shooting guard Morris Almond was healthy/inactive for a third straight game. ... According to The Associated Press, ex-Jazz guard DeShawn Stevenson of the Washington Wizards — who hasn't played since Dec. 30 — had an injection Wednesday to relieve pain in his back and is expected to miss at least another week-and-a-half. ... The Syracuse Post-Standard reported Wednesday that Gerry McNamara, the former Syracuse point guard who was the Jazz's last cut from training camp this season, has signed with Reno of the NBA Development League.
