LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON — The roads leading up to the ski resorts are open again.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said the roads in Big and Little Cottonwood canyons have re-opened after being closed because of avalanche danger. The roads could close again, however, if authorities determine they need to do more avalanche control work.

The sheriff's office is now offering a text message-based alert system on canyon closures. You can sign up at www.slsheriff.org.
