8. Davis (4-3) Class: 5A
Was: 9. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: When you consider that Davis has no returning starters back this year, and its three preseason losses to Jordan, Alta and West Jordan were all close games, it's obvious that Davis will be a factor in 5A this year. Next up: at Layton, Friday.
9. Bear River (9-0) Class: 3A
Was: 10. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Six of Bear River's preseason victories have been against 4A teams, including two against rival Bear River. Next up: at Hunter, today.
10. Lehi (7-2) Class: 5A
11. Bingham (5-3) Class: 5A
Was: 7. Last week: 0-2. Outlook: Following a so-so 1-2 showing at the Torrey Pines Invitational in California, the Miners return home with three more preseason games before region play starts next week against Riverton. Next up: vs. Hillcrest, today.
12. Mountain Crest (7-2) Class: 4A
Was: 12. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Even though the circumstances were much different playing on a basketball court instead of a football field, the Mustangs finally beat Timpview last week. Next up: at Bonneville, Friday.
13. West (6-0) Class: 4A
