The Community Development Corporation of Utah plans to offer 16 homebuyer education classes from January through April, including four taught in Spanish.

The Salt Lake City-based nonprofit group develops affordable housing and provides homeownership education to individuals and families.

Participants commit to a seven-hour training class along with a separate, required one-hour counseling appointment, the nonprofit group said in a news release Friday.

The English-language classes are scheduled on Wednesdays in all-day blocks, or in sessions split over two days. Spanish-language classes are scheduled for sessions on the second and third Thursdays in January and April.

Pre-registration is required with a $10 fee. Prospective participants can contact the agency at 801-994-7222 about class dates and availability or visit the group's Web site at www.cdcutah.org.
