Weber State football: Wildcats receive All-America honors
Smith was named to the Football Championship Subdivision AP All-America Second Team. Higgins earned third-team honors.
Smith, a junior, rushed for more than 100 yards in 10 of Weber State's 14 games. He tied a Big Sky single-season record with 28 touchdowns and captured his third straight conference rushing title. Smith rushed for 1,585 yards, which is the 11th-best single-season mark in Big Sky history.
Smith also caught 62 passes for 778 yards to finish the season with 2,363 all-purpose yards. That was the third-highest single-season total in Big Sky history.
Higgins, a sophomore, threw for a Big Sky single-season record 4,477 yards. He threw 36 touchdown passes, which was a Weber State single-season record. Higgins threw a touchdown pass in 13 of Weber State's 14 games, completed 65 percent of his passes, and tossed just 13 interceptions.
