Utah Jazz: Brewer will miss Saturday's game due to a death in his family
A Jazz spokesman said Brewer will leave the team to attend her funeral, then will re-join the Jazz in Boston, where they start a five-game Eastern road trip with Monday's game against the Celtics.
Brewer has not missed a game this season, and will start when the Jazz face Portland tonight in a late-starting TNT-televised game at EnergySolutions Arena.
Meanwhile, All-Star power forward Carlos Boozer who will sit out again tonight, his 12th straight absence said after this morning's shootaround that he isn't ready to say exactly when he'll return to the Jazz lineup.
He earlier had said he hoped to be back either tonight or Saturday, but today was not willing to commit to playing against the Magic or, for that matter, any specific time beyond this weekend.
Boozer has been out since spraining the quadriceps tendon over his left knee in a Nov. 19 game against Milwaukee.
