Director of programming John Cooper agreed, saying that Sundance is "seeing the next evolution of the independent film movement where films focus on storytelling with a sense of connection and purpose."
On Wednesday, the festival announced the 64 films that are scheduled to play in its dramatic, documentary and World Cinema competition categories.
Sundance also announced the slate of multimedia artists who will perform at or show off their works at its New Frontier on Main location.
And as usual, the festival will feature panel discussions, a music cafe, parties (both official and unofficial) and much more during its 10-day run.
For a full list of films scheduled to play during the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and ticket information, go to www.sundance.org/festival.
